St. Joseph & St. Ann Church Calendar
Holy Week 2010
The last week of the Lenten Season is the highpoint of the liturgical life of the Church. It is during these days that we re-enacted the passion, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In fact it is more than just a reenactment; it is an entering into and a reliving. It is this week that teaches us how to live as Christians-by dying and rising again and again.
I invite you to enter into this week as you have never done before. Attend as many of the opportunities for prayer and sacrament as possible. The major celebrations are: The Mass of the Lord’s Supper, The Lord’s Passion, the Easter Vigil and Holy Mass on Easter Sunday Morning. There are many other events offered, but the goal of these events, is to assist you to participate more fully in these major celebrations. However, with the busy life that many of you lead, if you are unable to attend the major events, the others events will still be a powerful way to pray communally and make this week holy.
I would like to highlight two opportunities for silent private prayer. On Holy Thursday Night Adoration with our Lord will take place late into the evening. This is to reenact the apostles who stayed awake with our Lord in the Garden of Gethsemane. Please come and spend an hour with our Lord in His agony. On Good Friday, at the conclusion of Our Lord’s Passion, the churches will be open for silent prayer before the statue of the dead savior, this will continue all through the night until Holy Saturday morning. This will be similar to the Advent Adoration Challenge. Please sign-up for these powerful opportunities in the back of the church.
All 8th -12th grade youth are invited to the Saturday Night Live activities at St. Joseph on Palm Sunday weekend. You are also invited to the communal Youth Adoration service that will take place at St. Ann on Holy Thursday Evening.
Lastly, I would like to thank Fr. Daniel Mahan who will be celebrating the Triduum at St. Joseph. Without him I would not be able to have the Triduum offered at all 3 parishes. Please pray for him and pray for more priests!
