If I commit to an hour of perpetual adoration what do I do if I cannot make the hour?

  • Committing to an hour in the chapel is a serious commitment. We ask that you take this commitment very seriously. When you commit to an hour it needs to be a time that will work in your schedule on a weekly basis. It is a requirement that there be two adorers (guardians) in the chapel for every hour; so we need all adorers to strive to be sure they are present for their hour. However, there will be times you will not be able to be there: vacation, sickness, family emergencies, etc. If you cannot be in the chapel for your scheduled hour you have some options. Here are your options: You can find a substitute yourself. -Ask a family member to fill your spot. -Call a friend and ask them to cover for you. -Use the Substitution List that will be compiled. You can contact the Hourly Coordinators. -These are individual who will be looking over 6 hour periods of time and making sure these hours are covered. -They will strive to find a sub for you or go themselves. You can call Head Coordinators. -These are individuals who look over all the hours. -They will strive to find a sub or go themselves. You can call the Priest. -He will come at all costs, if able. You can adjust your schedule. -Put our Lord in front of your activities. You can contact the “other” person assigned to that hour. -Strive to get “assurance” that they will be present. -Get a total assurance so our Lord is not left alone. The overall theme concerning substitutions is this: -There are a lot of options (see above). -Just do it (find someone-anyone). -Be not afraid (Sign up for an hour-God provides!). Tentative Calendar of Important Dates: Sat/Sun. Sept 11-12 Commitment Weekend All Catholics in Jennings County will be asked to select an hour on a certain day and time. Mon/Tues. Sept 13-14 Phone Call Bank Personal phone calls will be made to confirm specific hours with each adorer. Post cards will be sent to each home to confirm in a hard copy manner. Sat/Sun. Sept 18-19 Exposure Weekend Any holes in the schedule, hopefully few, will be shown and posted. Parishioners will be asked to step up to the challenge of filling any open spots. Sat/Sun Sept 25-26 Final Weekend All adorers (guardians) will be given packets of specific info and final schedules. Sat Oct 2 Opening Day The chapel will open this day after a solemn Mass celebrated in the morning!
Keep PRAYING for the success of Perpetual Adoration!
